Sectional sofas come in multiple, compatible sections, hence the name. The sectional sofa set may consist of a single sofa and several interchangeable pieces, or the “sofa” may be assembled from two or more sections. For example, you could get a three or more-seat sofa by combining a divan and loveseat. Here are a few reasons why you should transform your living room with sectional sofas.
It Gives You Design Flexibility
Sectional sofas are versatile pieces of furniture. Each section is capable of serving as a stand-alone seat. And you can put the pieces together whatever way you’d like. They’re a logical choice for those who are constantly rearranging their living room. And as an added bonus, most people can move each individual piece by themselves, so you don’t need help if you decide to move the main sofa from the north wall to the south wall. This means that a sectional sofa could be what you’re looking for.
It Will Fit in Smaller Spaces
It isn’t uncommon for apartment dwellers to make do with a loveseat in place of a couch. Or they may pay extra for an apartment-sized sofa. That’s a traditional sofa with anywhere from four inches to two feet shorter than a standard sofa. A sectional sofa is probably a better choice. You’ll almost certainly be able to fit a divan and loveseat together and get something as long as a couch. Or you could place a foot cushion next to the sofa, though there isn’t enough space to put them in a straight line.
There’s another benefit to getting a sectional sofa over a conventional one. Every piece in the sectional set is smaller and lighter than a full sofa. This makes it much easier to get a sectional sofa up a stairwell, down an apartment hallway and into a given room.
It Is More Affordable
Sectional sofas are made to work together as a single set. You’re also buying the set, and then you’re done. This makes a sectional sofa cheaper than buying a couch and chairs separately. This doesn’t mean you can’t keep your favorite recliner in the corner. However, it means that most additional furniture will stand out unless you’re buying a second foot cushion from the same manufacturer. Furthermore, you’re probably not going to need folding chairs as backup seating, since you can simply create additional seats by separating the sections. Let two people sit on the foot cushion while two more sit on the divan. Or let two sit on the couch while others sit on the foot cushions and chairs.
If the sectional sofa has a built-in recliner, it is going to be a better deal than buying a couch and recliner separately. The biggest question is whether buying a sectional sofa with a built-in bed is a better deal than buying a traditional couch with a built-in bed. But then you have trouble finding matching pieces.
It Normally Lasts Longer
Sectional furniture is made to be moved around and rearranged. This makes the edges of the sectionals more durable. You also get stain-resistant fabric in most cases. The end result is a living room set that resists wear, tear and spills better than average.
