CBD has taken the world by storm, offering a number of different benefits for people with all sorts of conditions. This non-psychoactive compound has become popular for its ability to calm inflammation, ease sleep problems and anxiety, and aid recovery for fitness enthusiasts.
So, why should you cook with CBD? CBD is rich in a range of nutrients, from vitamins and minerals to fatty acids and amino acids which are vital for our wellbeing. With that in mind, here are four delicious CBD recipes that you can add to your repertoire.
Overnight Oats
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not upgrade it with a dose of CBD too? The beauty of this recipe is you can mix and match the flavours to suit your liking – don’t like raspberries? Try blueberries or strawberries instead.
Ingredients:
- 120ml milk/non-dairy milk
- 150g rolled oats
- 35g raspberries (or the fruit of your choice)
- 1ml CBD isolate, such as Vitabiotics CBD
Mix the milk, rolled oats and CBD together and top with your fruit. Put a lid on the container to store in the fridge overnight, ready to eat in the morning.
CBD Latte
Coffee is a great vehicle for CBD, and you can adjust your daily dosage easily in this recipe to accommodate your preferences.
Ingredients
- 200ml milk
- 1 shot espresso/1 tsp instant coffee
- 10 drops CBD isolate
- Sweeten to taste
Make your coffee as normal, sweetening to taste if you typically have sugar or sweetener in your coffee. Add your CBD last and mix to combine.
CBD Pasta
Pasta is a delicious staple meal that so many of us have on rotation each week, but it’s also ideal for adding CBD to for added nutritional benefits to this comfort classic.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 chopped garlic cloves
- 1 tsp chilli flakes
- 200g sliced mushrooms
- 200g chopped tomatoes
- 2 cups fresh spinach
- 350g pasta, cooked
- 100g Greek yoghurt
- 50g parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper
- 1 dropper of CBD
Heat the oil in a pan on medium heat and add the garlic and chilli flakes. Cook until the garlic has softened then add the mushrooms. Once they are cooked, add the tomatoes, salt and pepper, and simmer until it has thickened. Turn off the heat and add the remaining ingredients before serving.
Cheesecake Bites
These cheesecake bites are a great mid-afternoon snack, and the CBD complements the flavours perfectly, adding a soothing element to this dessert. Recipe by My Tiny Laguna Kitchen.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup almond flour
- 4 tbsp cocoa powder
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- ½ cup almond butter
- 1 cup cream cheese
- 1/s tsp vanilla bean paste
- 5 full droppers of CBD isolate
Mix the almond flour, cocoa, vanilla extract, salt and baking powder in a bowl, then add the egg and coconut oil and combine. Scoop the cookies out and place on a baking sheet with greaseproof paper, pressing down slightly. Bake at 175oC for 12-15 minutes until crisp. Let the cookies cool to room temperature – in a separate bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients, folding in half of the cookies which should be crumbled. Scoop out balls of cheesecake filling and top with cookie crumbles, rolling to cover, then refrigerate before serving cold.
